This Task aims to reduce the purchase price for end-users of installed solar thermal systems by evaluating and developing sustainable means to reduce production and/or installation costs of material, sub-component, system-component and system level. Special emphasis is placed on the identification and reduction of post-production cost drivers. Moreover, ways to make solar thermal more attractive by improved marketing and consumer-oriented design will be explored.
The research activities will be specifically targeted at the needs and potentials of different markets and offer tailored solutions for affordable solar thermal systems at competitive prices.
Task 54 started with a kick-off meeting in Freiburg on October 21-22 and will run through 2018. At present, participants from Australia, Austria, China, Germany, Italy, Norway and Switzerland have signed up for the Task, which will operated by Fraunhofer ISE/Germany.
